Nottingham Moot Cup 2024

This is a one-day moot court competition, organised and hosted by the University of Nottingham Mooting Society, taking place on 24th March 2024. There are two different categories: A beginner moot and an advanced moot.


KCLBMS x KCL Blockchain Society Blockchain Moot

KCLBMS and KCL Blockchain Society have opened applications for this year's Blockchain Moot! With the success of last year's first ever blockchain moot, this year's moot will be sponsored by 3 Verulam Buildings. The competition is open to everyone concerned about law relating to blockchain or to anyone wishing to improve their oral advocacy! The prize for this moot will be receiving a mini-pupillage with 3VB, and the finals will be judged by a barrister from the chambers who specialises in cryptoassets. It takes the format of a one-day knockout moot.


KCLBMS x KWIL Garden Court Chambers Women Rights Moot

KCLBMS and KWIL have opened applications for our annual Women's Rights Law Moot! The moot is open to everyone concerned about women's rights or to anyone wishing to improve their oral advocacy! We are honoured to be sponsored by Garden Court Chambers, with the finals being judged by the distinguished Sonali Naik KC. It takes the format of a one-day knockout moot.


International Arbitration Moot

KCLBMS is thrilled to announce our Intellectual Property Law Moot, sponsored by 8 New Square. This competition will take place over an entire afternoon and evening on our Strand Campus.


London Intervarsity Moot Competition

R1: 27 FEBRUARY 2024, 6PM (In-Person)

Venue: Bentham House, UCL

This is an external moot competition with teams from KCL, UCL, LSE and QMUL, on the area of Public Law. Kate Temple Mabe from 7BR will be the judge for the preliminary round. Pavlos Panayi KC will be judging the finals.


London Intervarsity Moot Competition

Venue: New Academic Building & the Centre Building at LSE

The Department of Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science is hosting the Annual LSE-Featherstone Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Moot competition. This competition is dedicated to the consideration of areas of sexual orientation and gender identity law. Alongside the associated networking event, it brings together LGBT and ally students, campaigners, practitioners, and members of the judiciary. A series of LGBT+ law themed workshops, lectures and networking events will be run alongside the competition.


University of Southampton Annual National Moot 2024

Inner Temple Inter-varsity Moot

Date: 4 FEBRUARY 2024 (In-Person)
Venue: THe Inner Temple

The Intervarsity Moot (IV) is run in-person at the Inn and is a one-day knock-out competition. Competitors should be from a university, and not yet have secured pupillage. University courses include qualifying law degrees (LLB and GDL) and non-Law degrees. Participation includes a lunch for all team members and coaches at our Dining Hall, as well as a drinks reception following the Grand Final in the evening. In addition to the King of Bhutan Cup, there will be additional prizes awarded to the winning team.


ESU & Essex Court Chambers National Mooting Competition

The National Mooting Competition provides law students from universities and colleges throughout the United Kingdom with the opportunity to gain experience in their future role as advocates. In taking part in a moot, students do not just show their knowledge and skill in handling legal materials, but also their ability to practise the art of forensic and persuasive argument in a concise and effective manner. Furthermore, mooting enables students to gain confidence as advocates in a courtroom setting. The first round is on the 31st Jan, with each subsequent round to be held at the end of every month until June.


33 Bedford Row Family Law Moot

We are happy to announce our second mock-trial of the year. Taking place across three rounds, this competition consists of a plea in mitigation, and two mock trials. HHJ Dwight has generously offered to judge the finals of this competition and host the finals within the Royal Courts of Justice.


Non-Law Human Rights Moot

We are excited to open applications to our Non-Law Human Rights Moot! This is a competition specifically tailored to those interested in mooting who are not taking a law programme. It is a fantastic way for non-law students to experience mooting and learn more about careers in law.


Leicester Law School Medical Law Moot

Date: 2 December 2023 (In-Person)
Venue: Leicester Law School, University of Leicester

The Medical Law Moot is a fantastic opportunity to partake in a competitive national moot in a relatively uncommon area of law for moots. Skeleton submissions will be submitted and exchanged with the opposing team 20 minutes before oral rounds begin. There is a £25 entry fee for each participant. Both participants must be able to be present at Leicester Law School in the University of Leicester at 9am. Travel costs are not covered.


Mock Trial 1

5 Paper Buildings Michael Corkery QC Criminal Law Moot

The competition comprises two knock-out rounds judged by members of Chambers followed by a final judged by a member of the Judiciary. In previous years the Final was held at the Old Bailey and at the UK Supreme Court. The first round is more than just a moot: it is a daytime event during which students compete, participate in an advocacy workshop and have an opportunity to hear from a member of the Tenancy and Pupillage Committee as well as a recent pupil about pupillage in Chambers and the pupillage application process. The day concludes with a drink reception, providing an opportunity to network with members of Chambers.

An advanced and notive mooter will be paired up in a team. Each team will compete with each other for a chance at winning the entire competition. Teams are encouraged to collaborate, and the advanced mooters are encouraged to teach the novices.

This event is the perfect opportunity to test out your mooting skills, especially for those competing in their first moot. Mini Moot

Date: 11 October 2023, 4PM - 6PM (Online)

It is time for the Mini Moot! While the competition is open to everyone, those who have no previous mooting experience will be prioritised. This is the only moot in the year for which you will not have to prepare your own skeleton argument and bundle: these will be provided for you. On the day of the competition, you will be allocated a half-hour time slot. The problem question and the bundles will be provided the day prior to the moot. Further research is not required.


DLA PIPER SUSTAINABILITY Moot

KCLBMS is proud to announce that up to 2 teams will represent King’s College London at the DLA Piper Sustainability Moot! Each team will consist of a Junior and Senior Counsel. No written briefs or memorials are required. Two virtual masterclasses in the weeks commencing 25 September and 2 October 2023 will be hosted for competing teams.
